Des Maxwell Clark is a watercolour artist married to Anna Grayson. They are both earth scientists by training and met working at the BBC in 1974. They married in 1976 and continued their shared interests in palaeontology, music and art.
Des is best known as a landscape painter, specialising in the boundaries between water, air and landforms. He also tackles detailed botanical paintings and quirky subjects such as cream buns, fish and chips, jars of sweeties and old toys. He has contributed regularly to the South West Academy and has received two awards at the Mall Galleries in London.

This recent watercolour by Des is on display at the Mall Galleries in London as part of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours’ Open Exhibition between 20th and 29th May 2021. This painting is for sale at the Gallery and online.
